For some, having their adrenaline flowing on a rocky mountaintop or 50 feet below the ocean’s surface is the best way to get away from the daily grind. Others seek out snow-capped summits and alpine lakes for the sake of a change of view. Yellowstone has been home to Native Americans for over 11,000 years (26 distinct tribes have historic ties to the park), and its natural beauties attract people from all over the world. Hiking routes crisscross the park in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, leading to sites such as the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs. If hiking isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other activities to choose from, like biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and kayaking. If you’re feeling very daring, camp at one of Yellowstone’s sites or in the park’s undeveloped backcountry.
The Grand Canyon
It is ranked second in the category of Best Adventure. Vacations in the United States. The Grand Canyon in Arizona offers a wide range of adrenaline-pumping activities, including hiking and whitewater rafting on the Colorado River. Check out the trekking paths on the North Rim to avoid the throng; the difficult North Kaibab Trail is likely to be less crowded. You’re allowed to explore on your own, but for the finest views, try joining a guided tour in a Jeep, on a mule, or in a helicopter.

Kauai’s chances for adventure are enough to thrill even the most jaded tourist, with acres of misty jungles, plunging waterfalls, and oceanside cliffs. Float down the Hawaiian island’s rivers in a tube, zip through the trees on a zip line, or trek through rainforests and along the rim of Waimea Canyon on a hike. Another must-do activity in this area is surfing. New surfers will enjoy Poipu, while experienced athletes will enjoy the North Shore’s ferocious waves.
Hawaii – The Big Island
It is ranked #4 in the United States for Best Adventure Vacations.
The largest of Hawaii’s islands has lots of rainforest to explore and five volcanoes to climb (some of which are still active). Hike through Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park to see Mauna Loa and Kilauea, two of the active volcanoes. Its 150-mile trail system takes visitors through jungles, volcano craters, and other natural treasures. After your trek, cool down in the island’s surrounding seas by snorkelling at Honaunau Bay, which is located on the island’s western shore about 20 miles south of Kona.
It is ranked #5 on the list of the best adventure vacations in the United States.
Until 1972, when the first ski lift was constructed, Telluride, Colorado, was a gold and silver mining town. The town’s transition into a destination of outdoor activity then started. In the winter, only snow sports such as skiing, ice climbing, and sledding are accessible. As spring arrives, Telluride’s activities increase to include paragliding, rock climbing, and kayaking. Instead of staying in a hotel, extend your trip by camping.
